Might as well get straight to it. My thoughts on The Cave… don’t those clips look damn good and scary… well stick with the trailers! What a let down this movie was. If you have the choice between this and Descent, go with Descent. In a way both movies are similar but still very different.
I was really looking forward to this one; maybe my expectations are too high. It is such an average based film it started to bore me after a short while. Once they’re deep in the cave, one by one, surprise, surprise so many are killed by unknown creatures when they least expect it. This film is so typical that you know what’s going to happen throughout the film. And - Oh no!!! It looks like there’s gonna be a second one.
The only good things with this movie are the sets. They are excellent, you can see a lot of hard work has gone into them. The creatures are basic no real detail to them, nothing what we haven’t seen before. The storyline is extremely plain. Scare factor… you’ll get a better scare factor watching Scooby Doo!!!
And this is why I thought it was going to be a good movie, don’t be fooled:
Movie Synopsis:
Deep in the Romanion forest, a team of scientists stumbles upon the ruins of a 13th century Abbey. On further inspection, they make a startling discovery – the Abbey is built over the entrance to a giant underground cave system. Local biologists believe the cave could be home to an undiscovered eco-system, so they hire a group of American cave-explorers to help them investigate its depths.
Jack (Cole Hauser) and his brother Tyler (Eddie Cibrian) are thrill-seeking professional cave explorers who run a team of the top divers in the world. They arrive in Romania with all the latest equipment, including a new type of scuba tank allowing a diver to remain submerged for up to 24hrs. The crack unit, which also includes Charlie (Piper Perabo) and Buchanan (Morris Chestnut), immediately begins their exploration. But what they find deep inside the caves is not just a new eco-system, but an entirely new species altogether…
And you know what makes this film more creepier… new creatures have been found in caves like this.
